There are free park-n-ride lots located throughout the region where you can park your car and hop on the bus or train. Park-n-rides mean you can still use transit even if you’re not within walking or biking distance of a stop.
Visit the NFTA’s Interactive Map to see the locations of all park-n-rides. In the map’s legend on the left, select Park and Ride under the Landmarks heading. Select the park and ride location name to view its location on the map.
METRO RAIL PARK-N-RIDES
Free park-n-rides are located at University Station and LaSalle Station in North Buffalo. It’s only an 11-minute train ride to Downtown Buffalo from there.
There’s also a kiss-n-ride at University Station where you can be dropped off and picked up by whoever you’re sharing a car ride with.

These free park-n-ride lots are also available for carpoolers, who want to meet up with their colleagues and take one car the rest of the way to work. This can sometimes be more convenient for the driver since he/she doesn’t have to pick everyone up at separate locations.

GO Buffalo Niagara works with 511NY to bring you an online carpool matching system. Use the system to find other travelers nearby who want to share a ride to work. Just fill in your commute information and preferences, and the system will tell you when a possible match is found. From there, you can send them a message to jump-start the conversation. It’s easy!
